Day 33 - Where in the World?

When thinking about an overseas missions agency, your mind most naturally goes to the work that is taking place in a far-off land...over seas.

Today we want to bring to light a portion of Wycliffe USA’s work that takes place right here in the United States. Generally speaking, the actual translating happens in other countries (there are a few smaller language groups here in the US that have needed specific translations), but there is a bunch of work that takes place here in the US to help people get involved so that the translations can actually have people to get them started!

One such important task is strategically getting the word out about the need that’s out there. To help in this area, many U.S.-assigned workers are using their gifts and abilities to support the work of Bible translation using media and the internet.

Here are a few examples:

Bob Creson (along with other Bible translation workers) is interviewed for a 5-part radio series on Moody Radio focused on the work of Bible translation. Listen to it here.

On YouTube you can find several videos that Wycliffe has put together here in the states. We’ve posted one for you to see on this post. To view the rest of Wycliffe’s videos, click here.

Wycliffe USA has a blog (through WordPress) that is kept up to date with stories, videos, news, etc. about how God is working through Bible translation.

Wycliffe workers here in the US keep the official Wycliffe website current, functional, and visually appealing so that people can learn about where the organization is working, how to get involved, how to pray, etc. etc. at the click of a mouse.

Why do we need to get the word out?

Because this is a global task for the body of Christ. The more people are aware of the need, the more God can use them to accomplish the task of reaching all people with the good news of the gospel.
