When doing what we’re doing, it’s easy to forget that not everyone understands what it means to “connect the remaining dots of our partnership team”. We have the awesome privilege of connecting members of the body of Christ to the task of Bible translation. And we are certainly not ashamed of it. It is an exciting thing to be a part of such a global mission.
Here are a few things that we’ve realized you may not understand about the financial side of our ministry.
-Because we are missionaries with a faith-based organization, we essentially raise our own funds for ministry (in all actuality, God is the One who does it, but you know what we mean...we are responsible to make sure that our financial goals our met). Technically, we have a salary from Wycliffe that is “not guaranteed” because it is dependent on the generosity of our partners across the country and the world.
-Wycliffe has set a financial goal for us that we need to have coming in each month before we are cleared to begin our first missionary assignment. -This number (our total goal) is set by taking into account our family size, health insurance costs, region of ministry, basic living costs, ministry expenses, overhead costs, etc.
-When we say that we are a certain percentage of the way there, that means that we have that much of our monthly financial goal committed. People (friends, family members, you, churches) can sign up to give a recurring gift, whether they give it monthly, quarterly, or annually.
-One-time gifts do not factor into our percentage.
-We cannot begin our assignment before we reach our recurring, monthly financial goal.
So what does all this mean?
We still have a very big need for financial partners. God has blessed us immensely by those who are already partnering with us. We pray that those who give would be giving as unto the Lord...not as if they were simply sending money for Trevor and Sarah. It is so much bigger than that.
By becoming a financial partner, you are enabling people (in this instance, us) to do the ministry of Bible translation. You are, in fact, translating the Bible right from your own home. When fellow believers take part in Bible translation by giving of their finances, missionaries are enabled to go and physically bring God’s written Word to all nations in their heart language.
Trevor and I have the opportunity for the next couple of years to serve in a support role at the headquarters of Wycliffe. Will you consider helping us get there?
We have approximately $1200 per month left to raise. No gift is too large or too small. Please hear us say that again. No gift is too large or too small. We would love to simply have you join with us.
We can be praying and praying for God to move in our ministry and family regarding finances, but the reality may be that He is calling for His people...a.k.a. YOU, to respond to His leading.
Ask the Lord how He would have you partner with us financially. To sign up, just go here.
Sarah
