Last November, Sarah and I had the privilege of heading to the Wycliffe USA headquarters in Orlando. We were able to be involved in the public launch of what is called the Last Languages Campaign.
One of the speakers during the weekend was named Henrique Terena (pronounced en-HEE-kee tay-RAY-nah) who was a native Brazilian who started a mission called CONPLEI among church leaders in Brazil. Henrique is the man on the right. He has a wonderful testimony of how God led him to this ministry.
Though I couldn't have a conversation with Henrique (Sarah enjoyed speaking Portuguese with him throughout the weekend), I had a deep respect for his passion and his story. When we were saying goodbye to him, Henrique handed me a gift...this bracelet. He explained through his translator (who happens to be working now in the Offices of the President) that this was handmade from the Ya-Ya tribe of the Amazon.
So if you've seen my bracelet and wondered about it, that's the story! It means a lot to me because of my heart for Brazil (if you don't know this, Sarah was born and semi-raised there) and my heart for Bible translation. Thanks for reading!
Trevor
