I know I shouldn't be blogging during work...but I have to. It'll be short.
I was having a case of self-diagnosed "restless back syndrome" a little while ago, so I took my notebook out to the hallways to just review my projects and make sure I wasn't forgetting anything on my to-do list. As I was roaming and reading, I decided that I should just start praying about my projects. So I did.
This led to me walking by a few tables in the lobby designated for prayer during our Moody Radio Campaign. Right now it's going on in Cleveland, Chicago, Michigan...I think that's it. Hundreds of thousands of dollars have come in for Wycliffe's projects in Panama and Peru as a result of phone calls to our call center right outside my office. I'm making a short story long here, but you have to know the background for it to make sense.
So I found these two binders on the tables that had a bunch of sheets from our phone operators (many of my colleagues that are volunteering to man the phones during the campaign), and I opened one up to peruse the contents. As I started seeing how many people had asked for us to call them back to pray with them about specific requests, I had the oddest reaction.
My eyes started glistening.
Okay, I was crying. But just a little.
Here we have this campaign that is bringing glory to God through raising awareness and funding for OUR projects around the world. Great things, you know? But every person calling in to give was given the opportunity for US to bless them by praying for them. Some of them have unsaved family members...a lot of sickness and disease...kids that have wandered away from the faith...you know, hurting people.
I am sometimes just overwhelmed with the idea that we are all in this together. We're this family. I have brothers and sisters that I've never met. In a few short seconds, though, we can be completely bonded with someone with a give and take relationship that is based on Christ.
Maybe this doesn't resonate with you, but I couldn't resist writing it down right after I experienced it.
Don't worry, I'll get back to work now.

very touching... I saw you roaming the halls... thanks for the words from your heart
WE are FAMILY!
That was so "Work". Loved it and I need to go browse those notebooks.
Thanks for the prayer story--so encouraging when we see God at work all through the process--it's the ministry of Bible translation!
