I'm finally doin' it. This Schuh is getting her shoes on and running under the banner of Bible translation. What better thing to do with nice weather in Florida when the rest of the country is getting slammed with snow?? Wanna come? See below for the invitation.
On Saturday (December 11th) I will be running the first of a few races I want to complete wearing this jersey that has been waiting for me in my closet for far too long. You see, my original intent (way back in January of '09) was to run a full marathon. I was signed up for it. I was training for it. I was committed. Only problem was, I hadn't run a race since high school cross country! Well, as it turns out I kind of messed up my knee in training once I got up to my 12 mile runs (who knew I could run that far?!). Instead of running with all those who had been training around the country I had to see pictures of them on the internet after all was said and done.
Thing is, I haven't forgotten that I have a jersey sitting in my closet that was intended for ME to run for the glory of God. It's for a mission. One that I care deeply about. I don't want to miss out on this opportunity. I don't want to sit this one out. So, I'm lacing up my shoes and running as a part of Team OneVerse this Saturday because there is a group of people in Asia called the Rutara who need to have God's written Word (read about them here). It's for Bible translation.
Will you join me? The main reason I am doing this is to raise money for the translation of God's Word for the Rutara people. Trevor and I have been setting aside some funds to support this work and would love for you to take part in it with us. Give WITH us. Our goal is to raise $1500, and so far we have reached $520. Everything goes directly to The Seed Company, who then passes it on to the translation team in place. It's easy to give and it's the perfect time to give it. Doesn't have to be anything huge. Maybe $5 or $10 or $100...whatever you feel you want to give to further the work of His written gospel.

As we think on all we are thankful for this Christmas, may we give to others one of the greatest gifts ever given to us. To His glory and for His Name!
